Trauma Informed Legal Practice
Across 2024 to 2026 I worked on a project exploring trauma informed legal practice, funded by the Michael and Suzanne Borrin Foundation. If you would like to know more, you can see a summary of the project here.
- For a helpful starter discussing trauma informed legal practice, you can take a look at my recent New Zealand Law Journal article: An introduction to trauma-informed legal practice for Aotearoa New Zealand [2025] NZLJ 113. The law journal isn't open access, but if you are a lawyer you can access it through the NZLS library.
- If you are a podcast fan, I have also released a limited series about trauma informed legal practice - called Somewhere. You can find it on the National Civil Justice Observatory site here https://www.ncjo.org.nz/podcasts and on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2cf26VJu0M1JXhLYdMUru0?si=WtQTswI0SVeI0h72u4lxfA
- I am continuing to develop resources, provide training and work on writing about trauma informed legal practice and I am always keen on connecting with others interested in trauma informed law. Please watch this space, and feel free to contact me at holly@dawnlegal.co.nz .
